REMINISCING THROUGH THE YEARS…
It is hard to believe that Kittie’s Antiques is still going strong. I started the shop in August of 2009 for something to do. Every year it becomes more and more interesting! Recently, I was reviewing some old pictures and wanted to share the items and stories with you. Some are interesting for collectors (and myself). Some are unusual items. And some have gone to good homes and some are spending a little more time at Kittie’s Antiques.
EMPIRE SOFA

Empire is my favorite style. I saw this beauty at an auction. It was my favorite style and my favorite color! How could I not buy it?! This gorgeous piece was made in the mid 1800’s and had been reupholstered. These days, this Empire sofa is hard to sell… because they tend to not be super comfortable. This one now resides in a Federal style home over in Effingham.
COLLECTION OF OLD DICE

This photo is a smattering of my collection of old dice. Some date back all the way to the Civil War. Because they are small, they usually get lost. This means that old dice are hard to find and I enjoy collecting them because they do not take up a lot of room!
EARLY DENTAL DRILL (~1930’s)

Honestly, I cannot remember where I got this one. This early dental drill falls into the “unusual item” category. It does have a tiny motor that still works! Most of us are not fond of going to the dentist… so this item is a little bit…. Creepy….
HAND CARVED OXEN FROM TAMWORTH

This pair of wood oxen (probably from the early 20th century) were hand carved in Tamworth! I do not know the artist who carved them, but they ended up as quite the popular item in the shop.
Who knew?!
