Happy August!  Did you know that this month was named in honor of Augustus Caesar, the first emperor of the Roman Empire?  With autumn starting a little over a month from now, it is time to enjoy the final weeks of the summer.  August is also traditionally known as harvest month and this time of year there’s nothing better than enjoying fresh picked fruits and vegetables! 

Corn on the cob is in full harvest right now.   We have some interesting corn themed pieces in the shop that I have been collecting.  The set of twelve plates (see above photo) are in perfect condition and made in Portugal in the Majolica style.   There are some fun corn accessories as well to bring the harvest to your table in more ways than one.  The small corn pitcher dates back to the 1880’s!

Mix up some iced tea, lemonade or sangria in this large, daisy and button pattern, clear glass pitcher (see photo below).  It is EAPG (Early American Pressed Glass), most likely circa Victorian era, and in very fine condition.  Whether you are entertaining a crowd or just sitting solo on the porch, drinks served from this pitcher will delight and certainly taste so much better!

At the end of the day, this beautiful, handmade iris pattern summer quilt will keep you cozy while you sleep.  This quilt is a work of art.  Each iris square is the same pattern, but the color placement is different.  So no square is duplicated across the entire quilt!  I am thinking that this quilt is possibly from the 1930’s or 1940’s.  It is definitely vintage and in very good condition.  It can even be used on a poster bed.  The entire quilt is hand sewn.  If you would like her to send you a close-up photo showing the hand stitching and iris design, please call Alex directly (603-496-0580).
